This coffee comes from our friend Joerg Sterkel, whose family has grown, milled and exported coffee from Guatemala for 3 generations.
Beneficio La Esperanza is a coffee wet mill located in the heart of the Antigua, Guatemala since 1983. The mill’s roots in the area date back to the 1950s. Throughout the years, Joerg and his family have established strong relationships with various small and medium producers in the Antigua, Guatemala valley and up along the side of the Agua Volcano.
La Esperanza collects the daily pickings from these producers at their farms and processes them at the mill, carefully monitoring quality at every stage of the process. Long-lasting relationships and the standard of quality has helped to maintain consistency from year to year.
Surrounded by three majestic volcanoes, the Antigua Valley provides rich volcanic
soil full of minerals and nutrients where coffee thrives. Farm altitudes range between 1500M in the valley and up to 1800M on the side of the Agua Volcano.
