Origin: Honduras
Region: La Sampedrana, Comayagua
La Esmeralda sits in La Sampedrana, an under-celebrated pocket of the Comayagua region known for high altitude, volcanic soil, and a depth of coffee culture that doesn't always make it onto the map. We bought this farm in 2021 with a clear intention: more control over quality and consistency on experimental specialty lots in a place we believed had something special to offer.
This lot is a natural process Caturra and Red Bourbon. Cherries are floated to remove defects, rested 24 hours, then sealed in GrainPro for another 48 before heading to our drying station in Comayagua for 31 days on patios. The result is deep, sweet, and fruit-forward, with enough structure to stay clean. A bolder expression of what La Esmeralda does best.
