Honduras
Mountain-grown coffee from six distinct regions, and home to the De La Finca family farms
About Honduras
Honduras is Central America's largest coffee producer, and almost all of it is grown by smallholder families farming a few hectares in the mountains. Coffee is planted across most of the country, usually under shade, on steep slopes between roughly 1,000 and 2,000 meters.
The Honduran Coffee Institute (IHCAFE) recognizes six growing regions, each with its own climate and character. Marcala has its own protected Denomination of Origin. Over the last two decades, better processing, drying and cupping at the farm level have turned Honduras into one of the most exciting places in specialty coffee.
Harvest typically runs from November through April, with the highest farms picking last.
